"Siddhartha"
( English dialog )

"Conrad Rooks' second film Siddhartha, based on the best-selling novel of German Nobel Prize winner Hermann Hesse once again won the Silver Lion in Venice (1972). Rooks produced, directed and wrote the screen adaptation for Siddhartha. The film was photographed by Sven Nyquist, who shot almost all of Ingmar Bergman's films. After the film's completion Rooks left the United States and moved to India where he married again (his former wife had died in 1968 during meditation in a monastery in the Himalayas). He now lives as a total recluse in Pattaya, Thailand and is currently working on a book about his life."
